Kari
Theobald is a beautiful, hard-working and extremely talented young woman. Her zest for life has followed her from Timmins
to France to Yale to Australia to Hamilton... and to the many other places she graced with her prescence.
Kari
was raised in the small northern Ontario town of Timmins.
Kari has always pursued and achieved her exciting goals. At the age of sixteen
she spent a year abroad studying in Normandy, France as a Rotary exchange student. She graduated high school in 1996 as the recipient of the Governor
General’s Medal, and in the spring of 2000 obtained a Bachelor of Arts & Science from McMaster University. Kari was then awarded a fellowship at Yale University, where she graduated in
2002 with a Masters degree in the History of Medicine and Science.
Kari
then went on to pursue a law degree at the University of Toronto, Canada’s premier law school. Her battle with ovarian
cancer began in January of 2005 while completing the final semester of her degree. When the routine removal
of an ovarian cyst resulted in a diagnosis of ovarian cancer, Kari immediately began treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital.
Her staging surgery was followed by a four month course of aggressive chemotherapy. Kari continued
her studies throughout her treatment and in June of that year she successfully graduated with her class.
